Chicago Democracy Week 2016
The Voting Rights Project of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights is gearing up for this year's Chicago Democracy Week, which will be held from February 8th-12th.
what is democracy week?
Democracy week is an opportunity for students to learn more about democracy and the upcoming 2016 election. Staff and volunteers will visit area high schools where they can register 17 and 18 year olds to vote in the 2016 election, and host "Democracy Class" where experts will educate students on voting, voter registration, and democracy in general. In 2014, the Chicago Lawyers' Committee partnered with Rock the Vote to present Democracy Class to 49 classes and registered over 750 students to vote!
